Jan, Sophie and Emma
On the glorious occasion of your 80th birthday, Sophie, Emma and I want to wish you the Happiest of BIRTHDAYS EVER.
GRANDPOP

I love you so much,
oh yes yes I do,
you take me lots of places,
places like the zoo.

Your the best grandpop ever,
that there ever could be,

Your the smartest grandpop ever,
well, what can I say?
mmmmmmah
(means a big kiss from Emma)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPOP
LOVE,
EMMA
For your birthday, I asked the girls what they would be doing when they turned 80 given that for your 80th birthday you are just finishing the ride the rockies. It’s an incredible opportunity for us to see ourselves and our futures and for you to see what a legacy you have left behind. So using you as a role model.....

When Sophie turns 80, in 2069.......

She wants to live with her friend Morgan and have someone take care of them. She will exercise every day and will have just come back from a trip to Hong Kong on her own private jet. She’ll be planning her winter skiing trip in Aspen with Morgan after her next vacation in Hawaii where she has invited her whole family (including her sister).

She said that she won’t be doing as much acting any more but will be making guest appearances on talk shows and sit coms. She’ll also be planning large charity fund-raisers for her favorite organizations such as the anti-smoking organization and the orphan animal organization.

When I turn 80, in 2036......

I expect that being physically active will be as important to me as it is to you. What a wonderful role model you are for an active and involved life. I will have already run a marathon (maybe more than one) and probably a triathlon or two. My tennis game will be very good by then (it will take me another 37 years to get good at the rate I’m going!) and I’ll be planning a ski trip for the next winter in Aspen with my friend Judy as we do every year since we turned 40! Sophie and Emma and their children will join me and although I won’t be skiing moguls any more, I’ll be able to keep up with everyone.

I will continue in the tradition of my mother by having art be important in my life, not just by collecting but by expressing myself artistically as she has done in her life. I’ll have a busy year this year with my book having been so successful and the tour for promotion will be to Europe as well as the States. The movie will be out next year and Sophies’ production company will be producing it.

I’ll spend my birthday in Vermont as you will, where the natural beauty and the ever present feeling of coming home will always be with me when I am there. The totem poles will be as a reminder of the birthday parties we all shared there together. My memories of past parties (weddings included), holidays, bike rides along the back roads, walks in the woods, skiing at Stratton, catching frogs in the pond, sitting by the fire on cold nights and relaxing in the splendor of the mountains will fill me with an appreciation of the vision you had by creating such an amazingly timeless environment for all of your family including the generations to come.

My life will be centered around philanthropy and your legacy of giving and caring for those in need will be in good hands with me. I will be active in my community and will continue to feel the responsibility I have in this world. My daughters and their children will have learned well from the examples set by both of us.

So looking not just now, but in the future, look how well you’ve done with your children and grandchildren. We all learn best my following our parents as models. You have been an incredible model for all of us. I can’t wait to hear what the girls will write in 10 years as we celebrate your 90th birthday and we still have to keep up with you!

Again, the grandest of birthday wishes to you!

WE LOVE YOU!

Jan, Sophie and Emma
